Travel Photo Workshop
2-day workshop

Friday, August 1, 6:00-9:00 PM AND
Saturday, August 2, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$110(member)/ $135(non-member)

Hone your photo skills in this travel workshop with professional photographer and Stowe native Paul Rogers. Drawing on his experience photographing domestically and abroad, your instructor will meet with the class on Friday evening, reviewing digital camera basics, giving equipment demonstrations, and sharing tips on photographing landscapes and culture. On Saturday, the class will visit several favorite spots in the area, including Stowe’s historic Main Street and Smugglers Notch. Participants will receive individual attention during the workshop so they get the most of their equipment and opportunities. Get an insider’s view of our beautiful town and prepare for your own photographic exploration of any spot on Earth!

Requirements:

Ideally, participants should have taken HDAC’s Digital Photo 1 class or be familiar with basic digital camera operation and theory (call us if you’re not sure).

Participants are required to bring their own digital camera (SLR-type suggested, but not required) and appropriate memory cards. Recommended accessories include: auxiliary lenses, tripod, sturdy footwear, raincoat, cap, sunscreen, water bottle, and bag lunch. Participants should be prepared to drive themselves to our areas of exploration or be willing to ride with a classmate.

Teen Art Studio

Teen Art Studio will return in the fall!

Teen Art Studio is a twice-a-month school-year offering where teens make art, chat with professional artists, dream up ideas, and enjoy an evening of creative fun using Art Center-provided art materials and studio space. Guest artists will visit the Teen Art Studio to share about their lives as artists and help teens get inspired about their own work and artistic goals.

Evan Chismark is an artist and illustrator based in Stowe, Vermont. He has a somewhat dichotomous personality as an artist, where one half lives in the world of fine art and micro-detail, and the other thrives on creativity and intellectually challenging concepts. Nature is a huge influence on Mr. Chismark's work, but so too is the DIY ethos associated with early skate and snowboard culture. Mr. Chismark's work can be seen in galleries and local businesses throughout Vermont and New York.

These places

Are so surprisingly expensive.
Evil expensive. Spend $100 and get a VCR ( used if need be ) and really cheap running shoes. Tape the cooking shows on KQED and KRON, run around your neighborhood until dizzy. Actually go to all the advertised farmers markets. Walk everything and examine everything. Go to Cala, Rainbow, compare produce...
And keep a little note book! Make notes. galore. from the tv at the markets, numbers, addresses, suppliers. Buy used restaurant sauce pans and copper clad, steel etc stuff! It's cheap used and you can always give/ throw it away.
Find a gas stove and occasionally cook on an electric range! Live life!
