SUMMER SCHOOL 2014

Art classes Newcastle upon Tyne

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in teaching 3-16 year olds English reading, writing and conversation.

Preschool - I am currently teaching a 3 year old boy and a 3 year girl the first stages of reading and writing.

Year 1- I teach reading, writing and conversation to a 5 year old boy.

Year 2 - I am preparing a 7 year old boy for his key stage 1 exams.

Year 6 - I prepared an 11 year old boy for this Key Stage 2 exams, by studying past papers and teaching him successful exam techniques.

Year 7 - 2 mixed ability classes, where I taught the poem 'Boewulf' and the play, 'Smith'. I also taught a creative writing module.

12 year old student - I prepared this tutee for her 12+ grammar school exam. This student was consequently offered a place at the grammar school of her choice.

Year 8 - 2 top set classes, where I taught advertising, Shakespeare and poetry modules.

Year 9 - 1 lower set and 1 top set class, where I prepared students for the Shakespeare, Reading and Writing SATs papers.

Year 10 - 1 middle set group - 'Romeo and Juliet' GCSE coursework.

Two adult ESOL tutees - I taught them English grammar and conversation.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient tutor, who has high expectations and always gets the best out of her pupils, so they progress to achieve their full potential. I love talking about language and Shakespeare, and this passion for English is evident in my tutoring lessons. Similarly, I am fascinated by history and historical events and this interest comes across in my teaching. Overall, I am an enthusiastic, gentle and caring tutor, who helps students become confident about the subject they are studying. I am also ambitious for my students and push them to tackle challenging tasks to become more intelligent individuals. I tutor adults and children, so I am flexible in my approach and easy to talk to.
