Try continuing education classes
by ModernGrey At local Community college, summer workshops at local art schools.
Since you're in the medical profession, cost shouldn't be a factor. Take a sampling of beginning classes: life drawing, acrylic, watercolor and oil painting, maybe a ceramics class to hone your 3D skills. Also try "Mixed Media" which can open up new avenues with respect to the process.
Most painting is about process anyway....might as well explore it.

Popular Q&A
Istudent of theatre arts and wondering, is there any classes or workshops I can fit into? and are there any qualifications or tips to know how to study abroad?
Although I am not an expert on your topic, when I went to the University, I sat with my advisor and explained what courses I would enjoy and what courses were required to complete my degree. My suggestion is to do the same thing. Sit down with your advior and allow him/her to direct you the proper direction. Michael Joel Held
