Basic Barista Skills (3hr course)
This course offers an introduction to the world of coffee and barista skills. It is designed with the coffee novice in mind and also would suit the home enthusiast.
Content: History of coffee, coffee story from plant to cup, basic barista skills and milk techniques, drink recipes, cleaning and preventative maintenance of coffee machine.
Fully Automatic Workshop course (1 ½hr course)
This course covers all aspects of fully automatic bean to cup machines.
Content: Background into the technology and engineering of these machines and how to operate and clean them, preventative maintenance and trouble shooting. The course also focuses on perfect extraction and milk texture.
Intermediate Barista Skills (3hr course)
This course is for more experienced baristas who wish to hone their skills further. It focuses on technique and sensory aptitude to develop the baristas palate.
Content: Grind adjustment, espresso tasting skills and extraction workshop, latte art and machine calibration.
Advanced Barista Skills (1 day course)
This course is aimed at the experienced barista who wishes to explore the area of roasting and developing their own blends.
Content: ½ day learning the art of roasting coffee to different roast profiles. Explore the world of coffee by participating in a cupping session which will develop your palate and open your mind to a world of flavours. ½ day designing your own blend by choosing different origins and finding the perfectly balanced espresso.
Latte Art (3hr course)
This class is facilitated by Andrius Valiauga, Barista champion. Andrius has also coached at competition level and successful trained a third place winner in the Irish Latte Art competition. Learn the skill of free pour latte art. Designed for the more experienced barista.
Content: Chemistry of milk, steaming, latte art.
Competition Barista (3hr course)
The competition scene in Ireland is growing and awareness around it is much more evident since Stephen Morrissey won the title of World Barista Champion. If you are considering entering the National Barista Championships, this is the course for you. Run by a former National Champion Barista this course will give you all the knowledge and skills to confidently compete at this level
