Charlotte NC Art workshops classes

Come and experience this crazy, wild, and fun surrealism playground. Exquisite Corpse is a unique experience for artists and non artist alike.

Note: you do not have to know how to draw to participate. This is a technique that is fun and calls for inaccurate doodling.

Here’s how it works: Participants get into groups of 3. Each person will be given a sheet of paper. You will have 15 minutes to draw, doodle, and create a head of some sort. This could be realistic, animal like, or just a stick figure. You can make your drawing as simple or complex as you would like using your imagination — and not letting your group see what you have created.

We will rotate the drawings and do the same thing for the body and then feet. And, you won’t be able to see what the last person drew. The revelation of these characters will make you fall out of your chairs in laughter.

‘Exquisite Corpse Charlotte’ will take place at Charlotte Art League from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, June 14.

Michele Hoffman Lino is a local self taught Charlotte artist, former life drawing instructor, and art model. Michele has featured her art in many local shows and gallery’s such as Charlotte Art League, Waterworks, art with heart, Studio K, Red Sky Gallery.

Michele has 14 years experience as an art model. Modeling in many Charlotte local studios, gallery’s, schools, art guilds and art leagues. Michele works primarily in sculpture, stained glass, collage and mixed media. Michele is now introducing the surrealism technique Exquisite Corpse to Charlotte.

Class Description: Are you interested in figure drawing? The Charlotte Art League offers sessions for members and non-members alike!

Our classroom atmosphere is relaxed with no instruction. Most classes feature a live nude figure model, with costumed models on occasion.

The class usually warms up with a set of 5-minute and 10-minute poses before beginning the 20-minute poses. The 20 minute poses are extended if the students are interested.

Where: 1517 Camden Road, in the Art League Gallery

When: Every Saturday, 8:00-10:00 a.m.

Class fees: $10 (this goes toward the model fee and facilities costs). Pre-registration is not necessary — simply register at your first session and sign in at every session thereafter. Sign-in will include name, e-mail, and phone number.
