The first meeting of BHCA was held at Pelly House, Buckhurst Hill on 6th December 1946 and it has been providing classes in arts, crafts and other leisure activities at Bedford House continuously since 1950. For more information on the classes offered please see our website.

BHCA is a self-supporting, independent institution and a registered charity. This allows us to provide the kind of courses our members want, rather than those central or local government requires.

BHCA holds an annual exhibition of students' work at Bedford House during the summer term including a wide variety of paintings, drawings, calligraphy, needlework, china painting and pottery.
