Check out your local YWCA and YMCA and ask your local college if there are any community education programs in art. Also check in the local visitors bureau and ask if the know of any art programs and local online activity pages.
Advice for Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute?
I am trying out for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute in Modern and Ballet. I tried out last year, but with no surprise, I didn't make it. I have improved alot with the past year, and feel that I actually have a pretty good chance to make it, both my jazz and ballet teachers are helping me prepare for it, but I think I need some advice from people who have been to the camp. I would love any advice that could help me. thanks =)
I haven't been to the camp, but I took several types of dance and was on my high school gymnastics team. I know the competitive life, and what lies beyond. Your improvement over the last year will go a long way in the judges' minds. It will also contribute to your confidence, and that will make your performance even better. Show how much you love to dance and you will have the best chance ever. Good luck.
